first jobless monday in awhile. trying to make the most of it, but blinding sun doesn’t make for good photo’s. so pretty much waited around all day for the last 2 hours or so of daylight.

lot of confusion going on today! where to go? what time should I go? should I drive to the coast or just stay in town? did I put pants on? but anywho… kind of got it together late in the day… so to kick it off with more confusion! I have no idea what this first bird is, been digging in my sibley’s guide, and not seeing anything that’s matching up here, suggestions? either way 2 first’s today, american goldfinch and this one below…

had my fingers crossed all day on friday, that maybe by the time I got off work, the fog that was overhead would burn off… well it kinda did to the east, good thing I was driving west! not to much going on, lots of swallows and blackbirds, hung around for an hour and a half then headed home… woo friday night
after a pretty amazing day yesterday, I didn’t think my chances of having a repeat today where that good… and I was right. headed to troutdale – nothing, smith bybee – maybe there was something but too many people walking and talking loudly, vancouver lake- umm nothing…well gun shots. by 4pm was checking the incoming cloud-line on the western horizon. figured I had one more spot left, whitaker it was. sun shined for about 20 minutes till it eventually dimmed from the haze, then disappeared behind the clouds… think I did see something new today,or mis-identified some thing new today… either way (?) lesser goldfinch!?! dont know.

took a drive out to the coast today, just to switch things up from the usual weekend spots. headed to tillamook bay wetlands, super pretty spot and it seems that its not visited too much, which makes it even better.
