juvenile kestrel!?! really want to say its a juvenile merlin correction a northern shrike

2 gun shots 15 seconds apart and all hell breaks loose, easily 500 + birds in the air… apocalypse clouds all around and to make things more ominous the wind picked up from the NW around the 20mph and then it started hailing… I’ve been in hurricanes, earthquakes and may have even driven through a tornado, but this 5 minutes made ever hair on my body stand up. fucking craziness

first did a quick drive-by at whitaker ponds, found a bunch of cedar waxwings by the slough. drinking water and being way too fast. resulting in a bunch of blurry shots. then headed to vancouver lake, not much going on. but did find a field of geese to practice panning shots with…

pretty warm today, and not a gust of wind on the wildlife area. didnt see a thing till walking the kiwa trail, got really really warm while also being attacked by mosquito’s (always awesome)  couple flickers around and a large amount of swallows in the field. not much going on till the last 1/2 mile before leaving the park.
